The Issues: Our Environment
Judy Truesdell believes we need to move toward a new, smarter energy future – one that conserves energy, uses it more efficiently and relies on our indigenous resources that allow us to invest in our district's economy – and in turn save taxpayers' money and protect our air quality and our lakes and rivers. From her perspective, we are extremely privileged to live in Michigan with its vast natural wealth and pristine waterways. Unfortunately, as the use of these resources goes unchecked and we continue to feel the effects of urban sprawl, we run the risk of depleting these precious assets and leaving very little for future generations to enjoy.
Preserving our environment and Michigan's natural resources is a top priority of Judy's. She rejects the false choice between a healthy economy and a healthy environment. Farming, fishing, tourism and other similar industries are a critical part of our economy and they all require a healthy environment. New technologies that protect the environment will create new high-paying jobs. A cleaner environment means a strong economy.
