Dear Citizens, Friends and Supporters,

Those of you who followed the 2006 campaign know that I set records - winning precinct after precinct all across this district - losing only by a razor-thin margin to a conservative incumbent seeking to complete his final term. Well, I am here to tell you that I am back...running again with renewed energy and even more determination. I continue to believe that the combination of my experience, knowledge and leadership skills can become a catalyst for needed change both in the District and Lansing and my voice of reason and purpose a champion for the people of the 78th district.

The driving engine of the American dream for 60 years has been the collective success of the ever-expanding middle-class - your parents and mine, you and me - who saw the potential of each succeeding generation gaining an improved way-of-life. When at least one in four of us today can no longer participate in that way of life and many others are a paycheck away from despair, we need to find a new course. We need a new kind of political energy - an energy that can develop and drive new ideas in new directions. Rather than standing with men and women seeking to take advantage of the system, I stand with those of you who are about cleaning that stream for better health care, educational opportunities, quality affordable housing, environmental conservation and energy efficiency and the ability to purchase wholesome food grown locally and sold fresh at reasonable prices. I stand with those of you who will join with me in creating sustainable lives and attainable dreams.

As a candidate, I pledge to campaign every day to the fullest and apply the spiritual fervor of my responsibilities to you, our communities and our beloved Michigan. Over the coming months, I will continue what already is started - visiting municipalities and neighborhoods, speaking and most importantly, listening to the citizens like you of the 78th Legislative District - from Dowagiac to New Buffalo from Baroda to Niles and the townships, villages and cities in between. My calling is to nurture and strengthen our families and build our communities, not just markets. With a high heart and a spring in my step, I have a great hope for our future - one in which we have a government in business for its people.

With every best wish - yours sincerely,

Judy
